Ever since, football has become one of the most popular contact sports. It caught on with the masses, and football became a brand for the whole family to follow and cheer for.

The popularity of football spread to the football leagues of different countries, and even the rules and regulations of these leagues gave birth to other competitions. Most common of these competitions are the Spanish LaLiga, Italian Ladbrokes Cup, the Russian Cup, the South American Copa America, the North American Soccer League (NASL) and the South African FA Cup. More recently, football competitions have been held in China, Japan, Australia, Belgium, Romania and Russia. The list of nations participating in these competitions goes on.

To date, the most popular football competition is the World Cup. The term “World Cup” is used for many reasons, the primary among them being the expansion of the tournament into several countries beyond what were considered football nations at the time. However, the World Cup is also the most attended sporting event in the world, drawing in billions of spectators from around the globe. Some of the other main competitions in association football are the Champions League, Cup Winners Cup, UEFA Cup, Intertoto Cup, UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. For the latter tournaments, qualification for the tournament is based on certain criteria, and the participants of each tournament are determined by these criteria.

The European and Intertoto Competitions are the most famous ones, and consist of the European Championship, the UEFA Cup, the Intertoto Cup and the Uefa Champions League. The European Championships are the most attended and watched sporting events in the world, attracting millions of spectators every year. Another major football competition that has grown in popularity is the FIFA World Cup. The Uefa Champions League and the UEFA Cup are also regularly played in different countries, with each one attracting a considerable following. The Uefa Champions League is the only tournament that can currently hold the qualification spots for the FIFA World Cup.

The biggest and most attended sporting events in Europe are the UEFA Cup and the European Super Cup. The former is an inter-club competition, while the latter is an international competition. TheUEFA Cup is an international soccer competition consisting of teams from Europe, while the European Super Cup is held every four years and consists of the top teams from each country competing. Both of these competitions are highly regarded within Europe and are eagerly awaited by football fans. The Uefa Champions League, on the other hand, is the only tournament that can qualify a team for the FIFA World Cup. The finals of both competitions consist of the highest ranked teams in the world.

One of the most well-known football competitions around the world is the Scottish FA Cup. This cup, which is also known as the Scottish FA Cup, is one of the oldest competitions in the world.
